I took the first Tulip Workshop.

That’s right. I’m a co-founder of The Tulip Workshop now, but at one point I was in the same spot of many people who’ll read this post. I was young in my growing career and trying to figure out how to help my company become more financially sustainable. Before I joined The Tulip Workshop to share my hydroponic tulip forcing methods as a facilitator, I was a student in the very first soil forcing class.

I wasn’t sure that I could make tulip forcing work. But I knew that if I understood the science behind the process and had support to get going, I could figure it out. So, gfter months of begging Emily von Trapp of von Trapp Flowers to teach her ways, I signed up and went to her very first class.

Here’s my story. Here’s how I went from growing 1,500 to 75,000 winter tulips in just a few seasons. Here’s how I started growing with hardly any infrastructure and built a year-round flower farm with the jump start I needed with financial stability from winter growing.

My very first winter forced tulips to bloom were Delta Storm. It’s a variety we still grow today at Little Farmhouse Flowers.
