What?! That’s Crazy.

Hi! Linda and Emily here.🌷It’s the Tuesday before our only 2025 On Farm Tulip Forcing Workshop opens for registration and we thought we’d take some time to walk you through our background and why we put this course together.

Let’s see… First of all, you should know we are friends through flowers! We met in a discussion forum for a different online course when Emily started sharing images of the tulips she was harvesting in January.

Linda, realizing she was a short distance away, begged Emily to turn her knowledge into a workshop and teach others. Eventually, (after lots of pleading) Emily caved and put together the first on farm workshop. And of course, Linda was there and eager to become an A+ student.

At the workshop, we realized we have an uncanny number of things in common. Like- the same birthday. The same dog’s names. The same background in teaching. The list goes on. We were meant to team up from the beginning!

Since the start of our dedicated business, The Tulip Workshop has grown to include Linda’s passion for hydroponic growing 💦 and information about growing with artificial light 💡 indoors (in additional to Emily’s original soil forcing program). We also introduced The Lily Workshop, a sweet “little sister” to our tulip program, which offers up our lily forcing methods. Together, these two crops alone make us year-round growers.

Hundreds of growers around the world have learned from our programs and implemented our strategies. We’re blown away by the response and the growth of winter tulip farming here in the US and abroad. If you’ve seen fellow small farms practicing winter tulip forcing, the chances are pretty good they got their start with us.

We’re fascinated by bulb forcing and eager to help fellow growers design flower farming systems that work for them through programmed successions of flowers that bloom on regular schedules and provide even harvests over months at a time.

Our programs aim to lower the risk of bulb crops by helping growers avoid grower error, disease, and environmental problems that prevent flowering and lead to financial losses.

Are you curious? If your answer is “yes,” we think you’ll love it here! Be sure to stay tuned and set a reminder for the opening of registration for the On Farm workshop program on Saturday, June 7th at 9am ET! Spaces are limited.
